UNITED KINGDOM

I know little about this country apart from London, which I visited twice, and then Oxford, the university city not far away, and Stratford on Avon, Shakespeare's city, where I visited his wife's old house. Never been to the rest of the country although I would only like to visit Scotland which many say is beautiful, even more so than Ireland which in my opinion, after having seen it all, I must say is a real jewel In London I saw from outside the royal palace of Buckingham Palace and the changing of the guard, the Big Ben tower and the House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey where all royal ceremonies take place from weddings to funerals, Saint Paul's Cathedral, the Tower Bridge where I went to see the Crown's treasure, of course the rich British Museum, the National Gallery, and the beautiful parks of St James, Kensington and Hyde Park where there is a discussion corner and whoever wants can improvise as a speaker and then Soho, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Carnaby Street very important in the 70s at the time of the miniskirt fashion launched by the recently disappeared Quant and I remember a very colorful shop in Biba but in general everything was very colorful starting from the red double-decker buses, to the telephone booths , only the taxis were black but vintage details and are still running. Then some streets famous for shopping such as Oxford and Regent Street, Kingg's and Abbey Road made famous by a Beatles record, Portobello Road with its colorful second-hand clothes market which takes place on Saturdays and antique shops. However, I don't like the English, an example is enough to understand; I stopped an English gentleman and asked him "Excuse Sir, do you know where Trafalgar Square is?" He looked at me with an idiot face and replied: yes I do, he turned and left, leaving me speechless. OK I had to say. can you please tell me the way to Trafalgar Square? But he understood very well and wanted to be English at all costs. Then London is very expensive and the food is terrible unless you want to spend a fortune and it has a horrendous climate. I don't understand why everyone wants to go and live there, but then the English escape to the Canary Islands, Portugal, everywhere just to enjoy a bit of sun and get cheaper drinks.
