SWITZERLAND
I am a man destined to live near the borders, for forty years in Trieste near Yugoslavia and then Slovenia and for 30 years in Lombardy in the province of Como near Switzerland, a beautiful and rich, orderly and clean country that in the early days I went to visit to find out.
Actually, the first time I arrived in Switzerland was way back in 1969 when with the fifth accounting class we went on a trip to Paris and stopped to sleep in the building that housed the students of the University of Geneva and naturally, as typical Italians, we made a lot of noise, causing scandal. the calm Swiss and then we went to a disco along the lake where we remained speechless listening to the sexy album "Je t'aime moi non plus" by Serge Gainsbourg and his wife Jane Birkin, both now deceased.
On that occasion we also made a trip to visit Lausanne which is located opposite Geneva, on the same lake, also very beautiful and elegant.
From Como I made various trips, especially to the beautiful and nearby Lugano with its beautiful lake, parks and rich villas.
It's incredible but from Como we went to buy clothes in a department store near Lugano which had beautiful ones and were cheaper than the Italian ones. Once upon a time people even went to get petrol across the border, then cross-border workers were given discounted passes. Today it seems to me that it is the Swiss who are filling up in Italy because the price has risen more in their country. We must take into account that the Swiss have on average a salary triple or even more than ours and the big deal for the people of Como is to work in Switzerland and live in Italy given that naturally life in Switzerland costs a lot more, but not for everything.
Then Bellinzona the capital of the canton of Ticino and Chur the capital of the canton of Grisons. I also went to the lake of the four cantons which borders three states, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
And then Andermatt and Zermatt which I reached with a train and is located in front of Mount Cervino, even then petrol cars were prohibited, only electric vehicles.
I also took the spectacular Bernina train which takes you up the glacier passing through Wengen and with a view of Interlaken, the lake below divided into two pieces.
I visited Sankt Moritz a couple of times, a winter ski resort very popular with international VIPs full of money
I took a trip to St. Gallen (then famous for its embroidered lace) and to Appenzell, a beautiful green region.
And of course Zurich, the Milan of Switzerland, the largest and richest (but Geneva also has perhaps more billionaires on a beautiful lake) financial and industrial with a beautiful and large lake.
I also went to see Arona on Lake Maggiore which is a jewel compared to Luino the Italian city on the same lake and a few km away, just to tell the difference.
I hope that my daughter decides to leave Berlin and settle in Switzerland given that her partner has dual Italian and Swiss citizenship as her father resides in Switzerland.
Presi
